1. BOTOX® Cosmetic Botulinum Toxin Type A is a natural, purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected in the brow area where hyperfunctional muscles cause facial lines to form relaxing the muscles and smoothing the lines.

A BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment is a simple, nonsurgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows that develop over time. One 10-minute treatment -- a few tiny injections -- relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to 4 months. BOTOX® Cosmetic has been widely tested. Now it’s approved by the FDA.

The results are dramatic and apparent within days. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of the men and women surveyed rated the improvement in their brow lines as moderate to better. For many, BOTOX® Cosmetic virtually "erases" these lines.

Unlike surgery, BOTOX® Cosmetic is fast, simple, and minimally invasive, with no downtime or recovery. Most people return directly to work or normal activity following treatment. Within days, they report looking more natural and relaxed. With BOTOX® Cosmetic, they’ll know you’ve done something, they just won’t know what.

2. A few tiny BOTOX® Cosmetic injections should be placed in the corrugator and procerus muscles. No anesthesia is needed, but it may be helpful to numb the area with a cold pack or topical anesthetic. The procedure takes about 10 minutes. Within days, patients see a marked relaxation of glabellar lines. Clinical data show that lines continue to improve for up to a week and improvement lasts for up to 4 months.

3. The FDA has approved Botox® use for the frown lines between the eyebrows. However, Botox® is also used safely in the forehead and crows feet areas, with significant improvement in the lines in these areas.

4. Any image-conscious man or woman 18 to 65 years of age who is concerned about the appearance of their frown lines may be a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. BOTOX® Cosmetic should not be used if there is an infection at the injection site. A physician must determine if BOTOX® Cosmetic is the right treatment for the individual patient .

5. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's 2000 survey, BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the least expensive facial aesthetic procedures, ranking seventh of the nine most widely used procedures in the United States? You can expect to pay between $400 and $800 per treatment session depending on how much Botox is used.

6. Discomfort related to the injection is minimal, brief and can be limited with a cold pack or anesthetic cream. Most people return directly to work or normal activity following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment.

Discomfort is minimal and brief. Your physician may choose to use a local anesthetic cream or ice to minimize this. Once the injection is complete, there is usually no discomfort.

7. Side effects most often reported during clinical trials of BOTOX® Cosmetic included headache ( 13.3%), respiratory infection (3.5%), temporary eyelid droop (blepharoptosis, 3.2%), nausea (3.0%), and flu syndrome (2.0%).

8. BOTOX® Cosmetic lasts 3-4 months.

9. If doing all you can to look your best is important to you, BOTOX® Cosmetic may be for you.

If reducing those tough lines between your brows would make you feel more approachable, BOTOX® Cosmetic may be for you.

Thousands of appearance-conscious women and men have already discovered the benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Not just models and movie stars, but ordinary people -- teachers, mothers, and business people from all walks of life.
